Like I said.
I'm Jon.
And this is the page where I tell you (and Google) all about me.
All about Jon* in the fewest words possible.
First of all, as a proud, card-carrying, not-afraid-to-admit-it, lean-into-your-super-power member of the awkward, introverted, probably ADHD creative-type club, nothing makes me cringe more than talking about myself. I'd much prefer to let my work do the talking for me.
But since we are in the business of storytelling, here goes. I've written, crafted, directed, massaged, revised, agonized and cried over creative concepts for film, radio, out-of-home, experential, digital, print and just about everything else in between. My best work has been technology-infused, content driven, or culturally relevant in one way or another. I’ve helped redesign and organize hospital websites and created Roblox games to drive brand affinity. I've put a mirror in the sky for beer drinkers and a slot car inside an iPad for a luxury car maker. I’ve built and mentored teams, led and won pitches, and yes, even won a few awards along the way. I'd even goes as far as to saying clients want and enjoy having me in the room.
And yes. My t-shirt game is strong. Unless you're talking to my wife.
I played with a lot of Lego as a kid. It's where I found my love for solving puzzles you can actually play with.
As you can see, my fourth grade teacher predicted all of this. Also, I can identify land and water and I try my best.
I learned about real music from my father. I learned about planetariums on my own.
I was proud to be selected to lead and grow the first permanent outpost for Media.Monks here in Canada. In my almost 3 years with the organization, I oversaw a team of 7 full-time art directors, copywriters and designers producing work across film, virtual events, web design, branded content and metaverse/gaming.
Prior to MediaMonks, I spent 7+ years as the Creative Director responsible for overseeing digital output at award-winning creative agency Zulu Alpha Kilo. In my time at the agency I conceived, actively worked on, or led a diverse range of conceptual campaigns and institutional builds for clients including Audi Canada, Corona, Interac, ParticipACTION, CAMH, and Bell Canada.
Before Zulu, I spent 4½ years at Proximity Canada, playing an integral role in elevating the interactive and creative offering for clients such as Pepsi, Frito-Lay, Alka-Seltzer, M&Ms, HP, Campbell’s and the Canadian Olympic Committee. I was also deeply involved in several new business wins on both sides of the border, most recently taking a lead role on the winning pitch for the Canadian Olympic Committee AOR duties.
I also had long residencies at Tribal DDB and Cossette Interactive working on blue chip clients including General Motors, General Mills, McDonalds, Bell, Nike, Labatt, Mott’s, Subaru, Gatorade and Energizer.
My work has been recognized nationally and internationally, including the Cannes Lions, ADC, LIAAs, Webby Awards, New York Festivals, IAB MIXX, CMA Awards, Strategy Marketing Awards, ADCC, and Cassies.
